A United Methodist community making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of El Paso and the world.

Western Hills United Methodist Church (WHUMC) is located in El Paso’s beautiful Thunderbird Community at the foothill of the Franklin Mountains. El Paso is one of the safest large cities in the Country, and the mountainous desert region offers 300 days of sunshine and attractive living conditions.  The WHUMC’s large campus includes a beautiful sanctuary, library, offices, and meeting spaces. The Campus also includes the Steward Family Center (which has a multi-purpose gym, full-service kitchen, stage, and meeting rooms) and the Western Hills Academy (PreK through 5th Grade school).

As United Methodists, we strive to witness faithfully to Jesus Christ both as a community and in the way we live our individual lives. We hold fast to the traditional core of the Christian faith, the need of all people to be in life-changing relationship with God through the grace of Jesus Christ. But, we won’t allow differences in the “non-essentials” of theology to divide us from one another. UMC National Site We rely upon the theological heritage of John Wesley, founder of the Methodism movement of the 18th century: a knowledge of God grounded in scripture, illumined by tradition, realized in personal experience and confirmed through our gift of reason and intellect. Western Hills seeks to embody the United Methodist slogan, “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.”
