Marge Study 584-5504
The purpose of this group is to nurture and support each other and to reach out to others. The group is designed for women who seek to grow spiritually through Bible study. On February 10, 2010, the group will begin a 12-week study of Old Testament Characters. Disciple 1
Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
This 34-week study is an overview of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Each week one “mark of discipleship” will be introduced and discussed. The Bible and a study manual ($35) will guide the members in their reading and daily preparation. The manual outlines daily Scripture readings along with commentary and questions for reflection and response.
Based on the model of Jesus and the twelve disciples, we will limit the group size to 12 people.
New Classes will begin in the fall.
Disciple III Remember Who YOU Are
Participants in this 32-week study will read the major and minor prophets (except for Daniel) from the Old Testament and the 13 letters attributed to Paul from the New Testament. The word YOU in the title is meant to be heard in both the singular form (the individual) and its plural form (the community). Several themes weave their way though the study—the call to remember, the call to repentance, the need for renewed vision (eyes to see, ears to hear), and the place of community. This study is designed for those who have completed Disciple I.
New Classes will begin in the fall.
Jesus in the Gospels
This Disciple study is the newest in the Second Generation Studies. Jesus in the Gospels focuses on the way each Gospel writer presents their story of Jesus. We will open ourselves “to understand who Jesus is and why following Him changes a person’s life at the core.” Each Gospel has a distinctive angle of vision and we will compare and contrast these as we go along.
There are 30 group sessions with homework required for the preparation for each. Format for each session includes a video, group discussion, how it effects us, and closing with Jesus’ own words
New Classes will begin in the fall.
